Become a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Els for Autism Foundation®. Volunteers are an essential part of our program, and your generous offer of support is greatly appreciated.

Please take a few minutes to review the available volunteer positions below. If something fits both your availability and interest, we invite you to click the Volunteer Registration button below to begin the process.

Requirements:

  • Fill out application
  • Watch necessary videos: Volunteering 101 (approx. 25 minutes), Autism 101 (approx. 60 minutes)
  • Read Working with Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • If 18+, complete fingerprinting and level II background check (details via email; takes approximately 1 – 2 weeks)
  • Connect with the program lead for your volunteer position
  • Begin volunteering!

Available Volunteer Positions:

RECREATION SERVICES

Time Commitment: Mondays – Fridays – 2:00 – 5:00 PM

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Keep participants engaged
  • Assist with transitions to/from activities

Monday: Chorus, Tennis, Fitness

Tuesday: Golf, Yoga

Wednesday: Kickball, Music Therapy, Art

Thursday: Golf, Dance

Friday: Kickball, Fitness

BRIDGE THE GAP 

Time Commitment: Mondays – Fridays – 2:30 – 5:00 PM

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Keep participants engaged
  • Assist with transitions to/from activities

ASSISTANCE OF PROGRAMS

Time Commitment: 4 Hours a Week (2 Days, 2 Hour Blocks)

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist in making materials for our many programs.

ADULT DAY TRAINING PROGRAM

Time Commitment: Between the hours of 9 AM – 2 PM, once a week

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Teaching or assisting with lesson plans/activities.

Skill teaching can include:

  • CPR and First Aid Training
  • Art
  • Music
  • Karate
  • Yoga
  • Money Skills
  • Customer Service Skills

DEVELOPMENT

Time Commitment: During our working hours (9 AM – 5 PM) but hours can be flexible.

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist with fundraising activities and donor recognition.

SENSORY ARTS GARDEN

Time Commitment: Flexible.

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Pulling weeds
  • Trimming planter beds
  • Giving plants TLC
  • Anything else needed

THE LEARNING CENTER

  • Charter school on campus serving students ages 3-14
  • If interested, contact Stacie Routt, the Principal of The Learning Center at  sroutt@thelearningcenter.org

  • Charter school on campus serving students ages 3-14
