As the Cafe Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in overseeing and supporting all activities for adults with Autism participating in training programs held in the Big Easy Cafe by Ernie Els on our campus in Jupiter FL. This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by combining operational expertise in the food industry with a passion for empowering and supporting independent living, vocational training and employment opportunities.
This role ensures an organized, inclusive and hands on learning environment while promoting the development of independent living and vocational skills training.
Typical Responsibilities include:
+ Organize, oversee, and monitor daily activities in the Cafe involving adults with Autism
+ Provide hands on training and supervision for participants to support their skill development in areas to include but not limited to: food prep and delivery, packaging, and inventory management
+ Coordinate and pick up food and supplies as needed
+ Responsible for creating visual supports needed to increase participants’ mastery of skills
+ Ensure all activities adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations
+ Maintain accurate records of participant progress and collaborate with other staff to address challenges or otherwise support participant progress
+ Assist with all program training and marketing efforts.
Required Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food service industry with food prep, sanitation, inventory management and fulfillment processes
+ Experience working with or volunteering with individuals with Autism or other developmental disabilities
+ Safe Serve Manager Certification
+ Valid Driver’s License
+ Strong organizational, communication, time management and teaming abilities
+ Ability to work flexible hours that may include occasional nights and or weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) in Culinary Arts
+ B.S. degree in psychology, special education or related field
Work Environment:
+ Work is usually performed in typical cafe/restaurant environment
