The CONNECT Mentor Program will help facilitate strong, positive, meaningful relationships that empower young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities through shared connection, inclusive activities, and professional development seminars.
Mentees selected to participate will be graduates from the Work Experience Program who are either seeking competitive employment or gainfully employed. The 10-month program will require a 4-6 hour commitment per month for both the mentee and mentor. The mentoring relationship provides the mentee with a positive role model who supports the mentee in the areas of professional development, interpersonal relationship, and problem-solving. Mentors also grow in the process as they gain skills in supporting and empowering young adults with ASD, increase their social network, and develop their leadership abilities.
