Erica Lyles, MT-BC, is the Els for Autism Foundation board-certified music therapist Erica received her bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Maryville University in St. Louis. She has over seven years of experience as a music therapist in Palm Beach County with local organizations and private practice. She is the music therapist for The Learning Academy at The Els Center of Excellence campus; that serves teens with autism. She provides music instruction through therapy-based interventions and activities there. Erica facilitates music therapy groups and individual sessions for ages 6 through adult. Within her music therapy practices, Erica believes everyone can be successful in the music-making experience!
Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.
