Kathleen Barney graduated cum laude from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a bachelor’s of science degree in education specializing in exceptional student education. She has a teaching certificate for K-12 ESE. Kathleen started as a volunteer with Els for Autism and was graciously offered a position with the team through that volunteer experience. Kathleen has a passion for working with individuals on the spectrum and more specifically being part of the process of helping them to become successful citizens of our community.
Kathleen works for the foundation in the Adult Services department as a Job Coach. As a Job Coach, she prepares individuals for competitive employment and maintaining employment. Kathleen helps adults on the spectrum learn, accommodate, and perform their work duties. Kathleen also works alongside local businesses in supporting their decision to employ an individual on the spectrum. As a Job Coach, her responsibilities also include duties outside the workplace, such as teaching social-personal skills and independent living skills.
