Kelley Coutts is the Els for Autism Foundation Recreation Services Coordinator. Kelley graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She has over 30 years of experience working in individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in community-based Therapeutic Recreation settings. Kelley began working with individuals with intellectual disabilities in high school as a volunteer at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha Nebraska. Therapeutic recreation is not widely known as a profession but it is Kelley’s passion. Kelley believes that recreation can be a bridge by taking the goals of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and psychology by infusing these goals into a variety of recreational activities.
As the Recreation Services Coordinator, Kelley is the point of contact for individuals who are interested in participating in the variety of recreational programs offered by the Els for Autism Foundation. Kelley works with professional, educators and artist in the community to create opportunities for individuals to participate in recreation and leisure activities.
