Social and Recreation Programs

Adults with Autism Social Group

The Spoken Wheel Society is a social group for adults with autism founded by an adult with autism, Merrick Egber. Each month the group meets for two hours at The Els Center of Excellence® campus to participate in interactive games and members are encouraged to bring their own food and drink, we have a virtual supplementation for our On-Campus Events. The group, by themselves, also makes plans for a monthly Saturday off-campus event for activities like bowling, mini-golf, movies, restaurants, or an arcade. The off-campus events are not supported by Els for Autism® staff,  and group members must be able to navigate community environments safely and independently without support. We also have a virtual social group running every Friday, other than the second Friday, that meets on Zoom where we talk a little and play a game voted on by popular choice.
